A NEW COMMUNITY HUB FOR THE ELEPHANT

OUR FEASIBILITY STUDY

We want to create a new neighbourhood hub in the Elephant, including two landscaped gardens, a beautiful new community building/café, and workspaces, by reviving two underused sites in our area.

The sites and surrounding area were once a Victorian timber yard, alongside small-scale manufacturing including a sack and a bottle factory, and latterly included an artists’ co-op – there’s been a long history of artisan activity in our little corner of the Elephant… Eighties rockers Dexys Midnight Runners famously shot the video for their number one hit ‘Come on Eileen’ on Hayles Street – and if you’re a Harry Potter fan, you may recognise our Victorian streetscape from the ‘Knight Bus’ scene – which was filmed on our very own Elliott’s Row!

We think that nature, art and culture are vital elements of what makes London a great place to live. The feasibility project will be delivered by the team behind Lamlash Garden to be affordable and inclusive to everyone and will make our area an even better place to live, now and for the future.
